Energy saving upgrades made easier for NSW households

As a participating finance provider for the Home Energy Saver loan program, we’re offering zero-interest loans* designed to support NSW households with home energy upgrades that may help reduce energy bills.

Home Energy Saver loans by Plenti remove the upfront cost of home energy upgrades with loans of up to $15,000 per property, repayable over up to 10 years.

Home Energy Saver loans are funded by the NSW Government and delivered by Plenti.

Who can apply?

You may be eligible for Home Energy Saver loan by Plenti if: 

  • Your household’s combined household taxable income is up to $210,000 a year
  • The property is located in NSW
  • You own the property as an owner-occupier or landlord, and are an Australian citizen or permanent resident
  • You meet Plenti’s credit assessment requirements

Eligible upgrades

Loans can be used for approved energy saving upgrades, including:

  • Rooftop solar
  • Residential battery
  • Inverters
  • Switchboard upgrades

Steps to apply for a Home Energy Saver loan

Your chosen vendor will guide you through the process

Check your eligibility

Confirm your household, income, energy provider, and system meet the Home Energy Saver loan requirements

Select an approved accredited vendor

Applications can only be submitted by program-approved vendors

Complete your application

After your accredited vendor refers you to Plenti, you will receive a unique link from us to complete your application directly

Energy saving upgrades

The NSW Government will soon expand Home Energy Saver to include discounts on energy saving upgrades. You may be eligible for a discount if your household earns up to $80,000 a year or if someone in your home holds an eligible concession card. If you would like to apply for a discount and loan, you must apply for the discount first.

Loan & Application Process

How much can I borrow with the loan?

Eligible households can borrow between $2,001 and $10,000, with repayment terms up to 10 years.

Who can apply for the Home Energy Saver loan?

The loan is available to NSW households with a total annual taxable income of up to $210,000. It is open to homeowners and landlords. Renters are not eligible for a loan. The property must be in NSW and the customer  must be a NSW resident or a landlord who is an Australian citizen or permanent resident. All loans are subject to Plenti’s credit assessment and approval.

Can multiple upgrades be included in the application for a Home Energy Saver loan?

Yes. Multiple eligible upgrades can be bundled into one loan, provided the total does not exceed $15,000. If the total project costs exceed the loan limit, the household must pay the excess directly to the installer

About the program & customer protections

Can households choose their vendor?

Yes. However, vendor must be accredited with Plenti under this program. To find an vendor, or check if your current vendor of choice is approved, use our Home Energy Saver loan program Vendor Directory.

How are vendors vetted?

Approved vendors must meet program requirements and relevant industry standards. Households are encouraged to:

  1. check licence and accreditation details
  2. request references
  3. compare multiple quotes
  4. confirm product and installation warranties

What is the role of the NSW Government?

The NSW Government established Home Energy Saver as part of its Consumer Energy Strategy and provides funding for both the discount and zero-interest loans.
